Detachment 880 Cadets Take Flight for the First Time with You Can Fly Scholarship

LEXINGTON, VA. Jan. 21, 2025 – Detachment 880 cadets enjoy their first time in the cockpit, thanks to the You Can Fly Scholarship. Detachment 880 cadets enjoy their first time in the cockpit, thanks to the You Can Fly Scholarship.

Annually, cadets can apply and receive the You Can Fly Scholarship. This scholarship gives students the chance to experience flying for the first time. Cadets are awarded $5000 that goes directly to a flight school of their choice, allowing them to get anywhere from 12 to 20 flight hours. 

One VMI AS100 recipient stated, “The You Can Fly program has provided me with a unique opportunity to discover my dreams and aspirations of becoming a future pilot in the United States Air Force.” A total of fifteen cadets were awarded the scholarship this year.
