Corps to March in Presidential Inaugural

LEXINGTON, Va., Dec. 23, 2016 -- The Presidential Inaugural Committee has selected the VMI Corps of Cadets to march in the Jan. 20 inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States, Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III '62 announced today.

"It is a high honor for VMI to participate in the parade honoring Mr. Trump's inauguration as President," Peay said.  "For these cadets, it will be an exciting and proud day in their time at VMI, and I expect it will be something they will look back on from a historical perspective with fondness and memories."

This will be the 15th inauguration in which VMI cadets have marched.  The first was in 1909, when President William Howard Taft was sworn in; the last was four years ago when President Obama started his second term.

Special daily practices are scheduled after the cadets return to the Institute from winter break on Jan. 15.
