Arndt Part of With Good Reason Segment

LEXINGTON, Va. March 30, 2023 — Lt. Col. Jochen Arndt, associate professor in the history department at Virginia Military Institute, will discuss the complex histories of the Zulu and Xhosa peoples of South Africa, including the violent clashes between them in the 1990s, on the public radio program, With Good Reason, April 1 through 7. In addition to Arndt, the upcoming show, “Dividing Lines,” will feature Daniel Rothbart and Karina Korostelina from George Mason University, and Jonathan Glasser from William and Mary. The episode will highlight relationships among groups around the world, violent conflicts, co-existence, and unique collaborations like music to bring people together. 

Earlier in March, Lt. Col. Mark Boonshoft, associate professor in the history department and chair in American Constitutional History at Virginia Military Institute, discussed the literacy tests that denied many Black Americans the right to vote during Jim Crow on the show.
