Maj. Timothy Passmore, assistant professor in the Department of International Studies and Political Science

LEXINGTON, Va. June 3, 2024—Maj. Timothy Passmore, assistant professor in the Department of International Studies and Political Science at Virginia Military Institute, will discuss how nations use the Olympics to improve their reputation both domestically and abroad on the public radio program, “With Good Reason,” May 31-June 6.

In addition to Passmore, the upcoming show, “Women Enough,” will feature Bonnie Hagerman from the University of Virginia, Matt Andrews from the University of North Carolina, and Brett Bebber from Old Dominion University. The episode will discuss the history of the Olympic Games, and also why the International Olympic Committee has never required men to prove that they are men, but women have had to prove their womanhood since the 1960s.

“With Good Reason” is sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. Local broadcast times, as well as audio files of full programs and companion news features, are on the “With Good Reason” website.
