Dr. Mary Beth Manjerovic is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the Virginia Military Institute. She earned a PhD in Conservation Biology from the University of Central Florida, a MS in Wildlife and Fisheries Resource Management from West Virginia University, and a BS in Zoology from the University of Maine. Dr. Manjerovic’s research focuses on the ecology of infectious diseases, wildlife health, and conservation management of mammals and amphibians. Her work integrates field ecology, molecular genetics, and physiological approaches to address applied questions related to zoonotic disease surveillance, wildlife ecology, and threats to wildlife such as chronic wasting disease in deer and white-nose syndrome in bats.

Dr. Manjerovic has extensive experience collaborating with federal, state, tribal, and nonprofit partners to develop science-based management and conservation strategies. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and has secured competitive funding to support research, student mentorship, and innovative teaching initiatives. At VMI, she teaches courses across the biology curriculum, including General Biology, Animal Behavior, and Conservation Biology, and coordinates undergraduate research experiences. She is deeply committed to student mentorship, regularly supervising independent research and supporting cadet scholarship through honors, summer research, and conference presentations.
