Apple Day Returns to the Jackson House Museum
Travel back to 1850s at the Jackson House Museum’s Apple Day, Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, located at 8 E. Washington Street in Lexington, is free and open to the public.
For over 40 years, this much-loved event has welcomed families, friends, and history enthusiasts for a day filled with interactive activities, traditional crafts, and old-fashioned fun for all ages.
“Apple Day is a unique way to experience history firsthand,” said Maj. Grace Moyer, Jackson House Museum site director. “The event gives families a chance to get away from technology and enjoy a fun fall day together. There is something for everyone.”
Visitors may try their hand at cider pressing with a working 19th century apple press, and learn the lively steps of historic social dances led by a costumed instructor.
Children will enjoy making crafts like jewelry, dolls, and wooden toys. Classic 19th century gameswill be played, and captivating taleswill be told by talented storytellers.
Visitors are also invited to explore the Jackson House, historic gardens, and exhibit galleryopen during the event. Admission to the museum is free for residents of Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County.
