Summer Study Abroad

Significant international experience is an important part of a VMI education. To help facilitate this, VMI faculty lead and/or direct several programs each summer for cadets from a wide variety of majors.

All VMI cadets (including cadets who will have just finished their 4th class year) are eligible to participate in these summer programs. Most of the courses offered have no pre-requisites. Many of our programs provide VMI credit, and all of them give cadets an opportunity to get ahead or catch up academically—opening the possibility for adding a major or a minor or freeing up space in the regular semester. Reach today out to our study abroad advisor at globaled@vmi.edu to learn more.

This process will not occur until their January 2026 meeting. Non-VMI students are welcome to apply to VMI summer study abroad programs. Please note that an additional application fee will be assessed for non-VMI applicants. This fee is in addition to any costs indicated in the program descriptions.
