Mission
The Truman Foundation envisions a country that deeply values public servants. In pursuit of this mission and vision, the Foundation awards the Truman Scholarship, the premier graduate fellowship in the United States for those pursuing careers as public service leaders. For this purpose, it seeks scholars who plan to have an impact on a particular issue or a particular community. Whether this impact would best be felt via policy change, direct services, or advocacy is up to the individual applicant scholar.

Minimum Qualifications
- minimum GPA of 3.7
- U.S. citizenship
- Planning to pursue a Graduate degree in public administration, public policy, public health, international relations, government, economics, social services, education, urban planning, conservation and environmental protection and related fields (medical or physical sciences, engineering) as long as applicants can demonstrate how these degrees would further their careers in public service.
