VMI Receives SCHEV Funds

LEXINGTON, Va. Dec. 3, 2024 — Virginia Military Institute has been awarded a one-year grant in the category of Capacity-Building of up to $150,000 from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).

According to Lt. Col. Ammad Sheikh, director of the Office of Career Services, the grant will help VMI enhance program infrastructure, improve institutional tracking mechanisms, strengthen employer partnerships that align with regional and state workforce programs, and hire key personnel or develop a centralized hub focused on internship and work-based learning activities.

“VMI is committed to providing experiential learning opportunities to our cadets, ensuring that we are bridging the gap between the classroom and the industry. The SCHEV Capacity-Building grant will allow us to implement innovative tools, and build greater partnerships.”
