Six VMI cadet-athletes named VaSID All-Academic

The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) released its annual All-Academic Team and six VMI cadet-athletes were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom and the field of competition.
 
In order to qualify for the team, the student-athlete must hold at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and be a sophomore or above in academic standing. While many cadet-athletes meet the mark, only six per school are allowed to be chosen.
 
The following six VMI cadet-athletes were tabbed for the honor based on both their academic and athletic achievements during the 2025-26 academic year:
 
 
Dayton Bagwell, Junior, York, Pa., International Studies, Men’s Lacrosse 
Sam Castle, Junior, Mechanicsville, Va., Mechanical Engineering, Men’s Swim + Dive
Naturale Faison, Sophomore, North Chesterfield, Va., Psychology, Women’s Track and Field 
Cameron Jones, Junior, Ridgefield, Wash., Psychology, Women’s Soccer 
Alex Pohlman, Sophomore, Ashburn, Va., Computer Science, Mixed Rifle
Sadie Smith, Senior, Ontario, Calif., International Studies, Women’s Water Polo 
 
 
A total of 36 schools across the Commonwealth and 215 student-athletes were named.
