A deposit of $300 must be paid in order to reserve your spot in the incoming class. It is refundable if a refund is requested prior to the appointed applicant’s Reservation Deadline (typically May 1).
Appointed applicants can make the payment by accessing their Post View accounts and using Electronic Check (no additional charge) or with American Express, Discover, MasterCard or VISA (with a 2.6% convenience fee) or by calling the Cadet Accounting department at 540-464-7217. Personal checks made out to VMI are also accepted. International students may need to contact the Cadet Accounting department for information on wiring the payment to VMI.
In addition to reserving your spot in the incoming class, the deposit serves as a damage deposit which covers property damages, lost property and unpaid obligations to VMI over the course of your cadetship. If the student matriculates, this deposit is returned to the cadet, less any deductions for damages or unpaid obligations and without interest, upon graduation or termination of the cadetship.
