Gene has worked in the Information Technology industry for over 34 years with Fortune 100 Enterprise and Government customers. He is currently the President of the Central Virginia Track and Field Club of Richmond, a non-profit organization with the goal of assisting student-athletes reach their full potential (the organization has assisted in gaining over $1.5M in track athletic scholarships). Prior to his retirement, Gene was the Director of Business Management and Technology for an IT Consulting Firm. He was responsible for maintaining and driving profitable growth with the focus on enterprise cloud, mobility, security and professional services.
Gene was also the Regional Vice President for Verizon Enterprise Solutions where he led a veteran sales organization for large public sector clients. His organization’s primary focus was to acquire new customers who wanted to extend their reach by connecting to a global IP cloud infrastructure and related services. Gene held sales leadership positions for several next-generation start-up technology companies within the IT applications solutions, software and network integration industry as well as various Sales, Operations and Engineering positions within Verizon.
While a cadet, he was on the dean’s list and was a co-captain of the Southern Conference Championship track team. He was a conference long jump and two-time triple jump champion and record holder. He has previously served on the board of directors for the Henrico Education Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on educational achievement by creating community partnerships that secure resources essential for success in Henrico County Public Schools.
Gene is a retired U.S. Army Reserve Officer and holds a B.A. in Economics from Virginia Military Institute (a distinguished military graduate), a B.S. in Information Systems/Computer Science and a masters in Marketing from the University of Maryland.
