Instructor/Lecturer Position in Mathematics

The Virginia Military Institute’s Department of Applied Mathematics invites applications for a three-year, full-time, non-tenure track teaching position.  This position is designed for individuals with a teaching career in mind. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, pursue scholarly goals, serve in the administration of the department, participate in curriculum reform/development, and/or guide projects with undergraduates. The teaching load will be four 3-credit courses per semester, but with a small number of preps. This position may be renewed beyond the initial, three-year term.

The appointment begins 1 August 2024 and requires a minimum of a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.  The official title will be Instructor or Lecturer depending on the level of degree.  Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics.  All faculty members are required to wear a military uniform; however, military experience is not required.
