Afrin Featured on 'With Good Reason'
LEXINGTON, Va. Jan. 24, 2026 — Dr. Tanjina Afrin, associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Military Institute, is featured on “Concrete Jungle,” an episode of the public radio program, “With Good Reason,” that first airs Jan. 24. The show airs on 136 radio stations in 36 states.
On the show, Afrin explains why effective stormwater management is such an important and largely forgotten public amenity in the United States. Others on the show, including Faedah Totah from Virginia Commonwealth University and Elena Valdez of Christopher Newport University, discuss the value of walking and taking in the beauty of our surrounding communities, as well as the moments that sparked important changes for representations of sexuality and gender in the urban spaces of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
