Jackson House Museum Seeks Volunteers
LEXINGTON, Va. June 5, 2026 — The Jackson House Museum seeks volunteers to assist in the museum gift shop and to serve as docents assisting visitors with tours and answering questions about the life and times of Thomas Jonathan Jackson in the years he lived in the home. Volunteering at the local historic site provides unique opportunities to interact with visitors from across the country, promote local history, and gain experience working in a museum as well as in retail.
A volunteer information session will be held at the Jackson House Museum Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m. All interested volunteers should attend the session, and RSVP to Kristen Pace at 540-464-7789 or pacekl@vmi.edu. If unable to attend, call or email to schedule an alternate meeting date.
Volunteers of the Jackson House Museum receive free admission to the VMI Museum and the Virginia Museum of the Civil War in New Market, along with a 25% discount in all three museum stores. The Jackson House Museum also hosts special events for volunteers throughout the year such as the annual volunteer recognition dinner and a summer day trip.
The Jackson House Museum is located at 8 E. Washington St. in Lexington.
