VMI Hosts VA250 Event

LEXINGTON, Va. Sept. 5, 2025 — Virginia Military Institute will host a Virginia 250 Commission (VA250) Constitution Day event, “To Support & Defend,” honoring the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Navy on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in Cameron Hall on Main Street. The event is free and open to the public.  

Established by the General Assembly in 2020, VA250 serves to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and the Independence of the United States in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  

The program will have patriotic music performed by the VMI Regimental Band and guest speakers including Virginia Delegate Terry Austin; Cheryl Wilson, executive director of VA250; and Ron Carnegie, portrayer of Gen. George Washington at Colonial Williamsburg. In addition, VMI 1st Class cadets commissioning into the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard will be seated on the floor of Cameron Hall, recognizing their commitment to serving in the armed forces.
