Marshall Foundation Highlights U.S. and U.K. First WWII Conference

LEXINGTON, Va., Sept. 14, 2022—The George C. Marshall Foundation will host, Gen. John F. Shortal for a Legacy Lecture on his book, “Code Name Arcadia: The First Wartime Conference of Churchill and Roosevelt,” on Thursday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m., at their building located on VMI Parade Avenue on Virginia Military Institute post.

The lecture will explore the First Washington Conference, codenamed “Arcadia,” which acted as the initial meeting between the United States and the United Kingdom to determine military strategy during World War II, where Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and their top military advisers made major decisions that would determine the direction of the Allied war effort.

The lecture and following reception are free to supporters of the Marshall Foundation at the $75 level or above. All others pay $15 at the door, cash or credit card. There will be a book signing during the reception, and the book can be purchased at the event for $45.
