Thomas “Tom” W. Williamson Jr. ’72 is a lawyer in Richmond, focusing on litigating civil cases involving scientific, medical, and technical issues.

Williamson served as a trustee of the VMI Foundation from 2013 through 2021. During his tenure, he chaired the Foundation Audit Committee. He has funded an endowment awarding financial assistance to VMI cadets based upon need and academic promise. Prior to his service on the Board of Visitors, he served as a defense legal advisor, providing pro bono legal assistance to cadets charged with Honor Court offenses.
After graduating from VMI, Williamson completed his law degree at University of Richmond Law School. His past service to the legal profession includes serving as president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and chairing the Boyd Graves Conference composed of lawyers and judges who study how to improve Virginia civil justice and submit recommendations to the General Assembly and Supreme Court of Virginia. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a fellow of International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
