There are three regular meetings of the Board each year. Specific dates for regular meetings are set by the Secretary of the Board upon consultation with, and the concurrence of, the President of the Board and the Superintendent. The Board’s last regular meeting of the academic year is designated as its Annual Meeting.

Special meetings of the Board may be called by the President of the Board, the Superintendent, by a majority vote of the Executive Committee, or by the request of a majority of the members of the Board.

The Virginia Military Institute will hold several public meetings Sept. 22 – 24, 2025, according to the schedule appended to this notice. VMI business will be discussed by the board members in attendance at each meeting. All meetings are open to the public.

PUBLIC COMMENT: The Board of Visitors will receive public comment at its meeting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025. Individuals wishing to address the board may sign up at www.vmi.edu/PublicComment. The sign-up form will close at noon on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes, and the board will allow up to 30 minutes collectively for public comment. Speakers must be present at the board meeting to participate in the public comment period. Requests to speak virtually or through other electronic means will not be accommodated. Individuals addressing the board should not expect board members to provide comment, feedback, or answer any questions during the public comment period.

Written comments may be submitted to bovsecretary@vmi.edu. Any comments received prior to Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at noon will be made available to board members prior to the beginning of the meetings. Comments received after noon on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, may not be distributed to board members until after the board meetings conclude due to staffing resources.
