Administrative Assistant- Navy ROTC

Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant for the Navy ROTC department. This position will provide administrative support and be a liaison between VMI and the ROTC program.

Job Duties: 

  • Manage and reconcile accounting budgets for the department, including purchasing, invoices, and travel.
  • Track, monitor, and manage supplies and fixed assets inventory.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly NROTC tracking system database to organize cadets in NROTC.
  • Manage event planning logistics and assist with outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate office resources materials, both print and on-line.
  • Maintain confidentiality, good judgment, and discretion in all areas of work.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in budget administration, including calculating and reconciling budgets.
  • Experience in organizing data and establishing and maintaining confidential files in automated and paper formats.
  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral, listening).
  • Ability to compose and prepare correspondence and complete reports and forms.
  • Ability to plan and schedule administrative support for programs and events.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and web page maintenance.

Additional Considerations:

  • College level coursework, especially in accounting and business, or equivalent applicable experience or training.
