The VMI Alumni Agencies are seeking a dynamic Stewardship Coordinator to join our Advancement Services team and help elevate the donor experience.
About the Role
As a key member of the Stewardship Team, you’ll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of responsibilities that support donor recognition, scholarship coordination, and event execution. You’ll be the go-to liaison between the Alumni Agencies and Institute departments, ensuring that gratitude is not just expressed—but felt.
This is more than a behind-the-scenes role. You’ll help shape the stories we tell, the relationships we nurture, and the traditions we uphold. From coordinating award ceremony obligations to crafting personalized donor outreach, your work will directly contribute to the strength and spirit of the VMI alumni community.

What You’ll Do
Institute Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stewardship communications across various departments
- Represent the Alumni Agencies on the Institute Awards Committee and coordinate annual award purchases
- Coordinate with the Office of Global Education and Faculty Recruiting Committee to assist with the study abroad and graduate scholarship process, including budgets, announcements, and thank-you requests
- Support departments in sharing newsletters and donor updates
Reporting & Data Management
- Assist with maintaining and generating stewardship reports that personalize donor outreach
- Collaborate on refining stewardship strategies and reporting cycles
Project & Event Support
- Help execute major annual stewardship initiatives
- Provide logistical and administrative support for donor events and courtesies
Team Collaboration
- Contribute to cross-functional planning and team-wide initiatives
- Offer support across the Advancement Services department as needed
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field
- 2+ years in stewardship, donor relations, or advancement services
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with donor systems like Raiser’s Edge, I-Modules, ThankView or StoryRaise is a plus
- A proactive, collaborative spirit and the flexibility to support occasional evening/weekend events
