VMI Holds Change of Command Parade

Under a picturesque blue sky, the change of command parade was held on the Parade Ground at Virginia Military Institute Sunday, May 14 at 2 p.m., as the 183rd Regiment handed over leadership of the Corps of Cadets to the 184th Regiment for the 2023-24 academic year.

CCI High School Intern Program Wraps Up

Virginia Military Institute, in collaboration with Virginia Tech, held a 12-week internship recently for high school students, funded by a workforce development grant from the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI).

Computer-Controlled Golf Cart Designed by Cadets Debuts at VMI

Cadets at Virginia Military Institute recently demonstrated a computer-controlled golf cart to assist those who have trouble with mobility. The idea came about when the VMI Alumni Association got requests for golf cart transportation around post during reunions.

VMI Cadet Strives to Comfort Parents of Hearing Impaired Children

Binh Tran ’23 is working to help parents of children with hearing impairments, and presented his research in his senior thesis. The goal of this multi-student project is to develop an app to help parents of hearing impaired children perceive the same sense of hearing that their children hear.

For the first time in history, Virginia Military Institute cadets have received active-duty direct commissions to the USCG by way of the Auxiliary University Programs, and will take their oath of office and receive their first salute at the Joint Commissioning Ceremony in May.

VMI Takes Part in Model Arab League Debate

Cadets participated in the annual three-day Appalachia Regional Model Arab League debate recently at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. MAL helps prepare students to be knowledgeable, well-trained, and effective citizens as well as civic and public affairs activists.
